MidOcean Energy is buying Japanese power giant JERA Co.'s interests in the Gorgon and Ichthys liquefied natural gas projects in Australia. The LNG company, which is managed by major U.S.

The sale of minority stakes in two of Australia’s biggest LNG projects to MidOcean comes as prices for the fuel have surged with the shutdown of export giant Qatar LNG due to the Iran war.

Ichthys LNG’s Japanese backers moved the project to the Northern Territory almost two decades ago to escape a similar scheme that captures supply for local use.
