A massive Verizon outage Jan. 14, downed tens of thousands of Verizon phones, with Verizon customers eager to "fix" SOS mode on iPhones and turn off "Emergency Calls Only" on Samsung/Android phones.

Verizon, the country’s largest cellphone provider, apologized Wednesday night after issues lasting much of the day left subscribers suddenly left without service and stuck in “SOS” mode.

Over 100,000 Verizon outages were reported on DownDetector.com, a website that tracks use-reported outages for several platforms that connect to the internet.
